So a few days ago the world ended when Kanye West ended his VMA speech with the news that he would be running for US president in 2020 (no one saw it coming… but I did say his speech would be one to watch)
Kanye has come under fire before his campaign has even started, with many scrutinizing over the thought that he might end up in the White House.
Personally I see his election campaign ending in two ways. A) He’ll win due to the votes by his fans, the connections he’s made as an artist, if he presents some genius points in his speeches or if people just want to see how he’ll do out of mad curiosity or B) He’ll lose because his haters won’t vote for him and because his fans won’t vote for him (how’s he going to release music AND run the country? …Although if he did manage it, the lyrical content he’d produce in that time would probably be pretty interesting to hear).
Either way, Kanye’s announcement and his history had me thinking. Maybe Kanye would make a good leader. In fact, maybe the world would be a better place if we all adopted Kanye’s way of thinking. Hear me out…
Grow That Confidence!
People mock Kanye’s ego, but his ego is one of the things that I love most about him. He believes in himself so much that for him nothing without hard work and determination is impossible. Just some of the things that have come out of Yeezy’s mouth are enough to enforce some self-belief in you:
“I AM SO CREDIBLE AND SO INFLUENTIAL AND SO RELEVANT THAT I WILL CHANGE THINGS.” (June 2013, New York Times)
I mean, if you woke up to a Kanye quote every morning you really would be ready to conquer the day.
(Did you know USA Today have a really cool site that gives you Kanye quotes to boost your “Kanye-fidence”? Grab some here: http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/exp/kanye/kanye.html)
Someone Doesn’t Like What You Do? So what! You’re Yeezus now!
If people have got a lot of negative things to say about the choices you’re making, and their words are making you lose your focus or bringing that feeling of success down, block their negativity out!
As Ye said in his Vanguard speech: “I just wanted people to like me more. “But f**k that, bro! 2015! I will die for the art! For what I believe in. And the art ain’t always gonna be polite!”
Don’t let other people’s opinions affect the choices that you’re making. If there’s something that you want to do, go ahead and do it!
Let Your Imagination Run Wild
Have you ever had a crazy amount of ambition to do something but were worried about the obstacles you might face, if it would be worth the risk, or whether it would live up to your expectations?
Time to let your imagination go free – you might want to try something new, branch yourself out a little, experience something that you haven’t yet.
Well if you’ve successfully grown your Kanye-fidence and blocked out those negative thoughts, what’s stopping you?
After all, if Kanye can go from rapping to a beat from hoping to run the White House, you should be able to achieve one of your lifelong dreams.
So try to admire Kanye’s decision to run as president in 2020. Admire his dedication, his ambition and his self-confidence. Just think what you could achieve if you adopted his traits.
